Blue Stem and Dallis Grass
Our 9-step program helps prevent future weed issues, but if Dallis Grass or King Ranch Bluestem are already established, fixing them becomes more of a renovation process than a routine weed control visit.
When you sign up for lawn service, our regular program is designed to help prevent many common weeds from showing up and to keep your lawn healthier over time. However, weeds like Dallis Grass and King Ranch Bluestem are different. These are tough, long-lasting grassy weeds that don’t usually go away with standard lawn treatments once they are already established.
Why these weeds are harder to treat
These weeds are difficult because:
What our 9-step lawn program does
- Helps prevent new weeds from sprouting
- Helps reduce future weed problems
- Supports long-term lawn health
What it does not do
- It does not remove mature Dallis Grass or King Ranch Bluestem plants that are already growing in the lawn
Why these weeds are harder to treat
These weeds are difficult because:
- They come back year after year
- They spread by both roots and seeds
- They grow in clumps and can spread if left untreated
Because they are grassy weeds growing inside your lawn, there usually isn’t a simple treatment that kills only them without also hurting the good grass nearby.
How we treat them
If these weeds are established, the most effective option is usually a targeted non-selective treatment. That means the treatment will kill:- the weed
- and the grass around it in the treated area
What we require before treatment
Before we do that kind of treatment, we require:- A signed waiver
Because the treatment will also kill desirable grass in that spot - A plan to repair the area afterward
Usually through:- new sod (best and fastest-looking option), or
- top dressing and seed (lower cost, but slower)
What to expect afterward
After treatment:- The treated patch will first turn yellow/brown
- That area may look worse before it looks better
- Once the weeds are dead, the area can be repaired
- Sod gives faster visual improvement
- Seed takes longer and depends more on watering and weather
