Why Am I Seeing More Activity After Treatment?

Pests / bugs after treatment

  • We are required to apply only the necessary amount of product under TDA regulations.
  • Putting too much product down can cause pests to develop a tolerance, which would make treatment counterproductive.
  • It also notes that quarterly/bi-monthly pest treatments are exterior only unless interior service is requested, so if activity is inside areas like a garage, a client may need to request interior treatment.
  • In cases of rainy weather, bugs often move inside to stay dry, so an increase in visible activity can also happen because of weather conditions—not necessarily because the treatment failed. It is exceedingly likely that any living bugs that moved inside the home, are in the process of dying after coming into contact with the chemical.

Ants / fire ants

  • For Top Choice Ant Control, it can take 6-8 weeks to show a significant difference.
  • If a client is still seeing ant activity right after treatment, we will offer the reminder that results are not immediate and a noticeable decrease in activity can take time.

Moles / outdoor animal activity

  • Mole control is a preventative ongoing treatment to limit mole activity.
  • Moles can travel up to 100 feet per day, so one treatment will not prevent new moles from showing up later.

Mosquitos

  • If a mosquito treatment was completed, but mosquitos are still active, a retreat cannot be offered because of the narrow treatment timeline.
  • Our mosquito control program prevents the breeding of mosquitos on the property.
  • Flying insects must land directly in areas where treatment is applied in order to die off, it is because of this that we cannot guarantee complete elimination of activity as mosquitos and other flying insects are fully capable of traveling from property to property.
  • We recommend that clients should do their best to reduce standing water on their property and encourage neighboring homes to look into signing up for similar treatments.

Weeds

  • Reduction of weeds may take time and may depend on conditions, rather than being immediate.
    • treatments are applied every 4–6 weeks
    • applications are based on soil temperatures, weather conditions, and lawn needs
    • moisture can help weed control work better
  • For best results from our weed control and fertilizer program, we recommend following our all seasons watering guide and making sure you receive the correct amount of yearly pre-emergents and post emergents.
  • We recommend that our clients stay with us for at least a full year of treatments before determining the effectiveness of treatments. This is the only way we can ensure that the lawn receives the right products at the right time of the year.
